Designing a Country Quilt with Pattern Brush and Swatch


1 Create four squares.

2 Copy the square (Control+C) and Paste in Front (Control+F).
Reduce the size using the Scale tool.
Deselect any foreground colour but select a matching colour for the square.
Apply a dashed line and stipulate 3 pts for the stitching.

3 Copy to the next square and change the colour.
Then copy to the lower squares and rotate to180 degrees.

4 Create a leaf using the Pen tool and copy using the Scale tool.
Change to a stroke and add dashed lines (no fill).
Duplicate the leaf by rotating 180 degrees and move into place.

Create a circle and duplicate and reduce the size.
Set the stroke weight 6 pt. and dash to 3 pt.

6 Add a centre orange circle with yellow stroke and group the flower.

7 Reduce the size of the flower and set it at the centre of the squares. To see the center more clearly, press Control+Y for View.
Group it.

8 Copy the square and move into place.

9 Choose all and copy.
Select New Brush and Pattern. Use the default settings.


10 Drag the squares onto the Swatches palette.
